Embark on an unforgettable journey through the hidden wonders of Africa with our guide to the continent’s lesser-known safari gems. Beyond the famed Serengeti and the iconic Kruger National Park lies a world of untouched wilderness, where nature thrives in its purest form. From the walking safaris of Zambia’s South Luangwa to the canoe adventures in Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools, the vast salt pans of Botswana’s Makgadikgadi, the elephant havens of Kenya’s Amboseli, the pristine waters of Tanzania’s Lake Tanganyika, and the expansive landscapes of Kenya’s Tsavo, each destination unfolds a unique story of beauty, adventure, and wildlife. These hidden treasures offer a glimpse into the heart of Africa, where the wild roams free and the landscapes speak to the soul. Dive into our guide to discover the road less traveled, where the essence of safari comes alive.

1. South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

Known as the birthplace of the walking safari, South Luangwa offers an unparalleled wildlife viewing experience, with its high concentration of animals along the Luangwa River. This park is famed for its diverse mammal population, including the unique Thornicroft’s giraffe and large herds of elephants and buffalo.

The untamed landscapes, ranging from dense woodlands to open grasslands, provide a dramatic backdrop for both game drives and walking safaris.

2. Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Mana Pools is celebrated for its remote wilderness, situated along the lower Zambezi River. The park’s name, “Mana,” means ‘four’ in Shona, referring to the four main pools that attract abundant wildlife, especially during the dry season.

Visitors can engage in unique safari experiences such as canoeing and walking without a guide among elephants, hippos, and a plethora of bird species. The park is also one of the few places where you can encounter the endangered African wild dogs in their natural habitat.

3. Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, Botswana

This vast salt pan, one of the largest in the world, transforms into a spectacular wildlife haven during the wet season. The Makgadikgadi Pans are known for their surreal landscapes and seasonal migrations of zebra and wildebeest, followed closely by predators.

The region offers unique interactions with meerkats and the opportunity to witness ancient baobabs, making it a stark contrast to the typical safari experience.

4. Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Famous for its stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and large herds of elephants, Amboseli provides a classic safari backdrop. The park’s swamps attract diverse wildlife, ensuring excellent game viewing opportunities.

Birdwatchers will find a paradise here, with over 400 species recorded. The Maasai community adds a cultural dimension to the wildlife-rich landscapes of Amboseli.

Zambia - Giraffes

5. Tsavo National Park, Kenya

Tsavo, divided into East and West, offers some of Kenya’s most rugged wilderness. Tsavo East, known as the “Theatre of the Wild,” presents a vast semi-arid wilderness dominated by red dust-covered elephants and maneless lions unique to this region. With the Galana River providing a lifeline, the park is a stronghold for diverse wildlife, including vast herds of buffalo, lions, leopards, and over 500 bird species.

The park’s rich history, marked by the infamous Tsavo Man-Eaters and archaeological sites dating back to the Late Stone Age, adds a fascinating cultural dimension to its natural beauty.

6. Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania

The world’s longest freshwater lake and second deepest, Lake Tanganyika offers an exotic safari destination. It is renowned for its vibrant aquatic life, including hundreds of cichlid species, making it a dream for snorkelers and divers.

The surrounding national parks and reserves, such as Mahale Mountains and Gombe Stream, provide habitats for chimpanzees, inviting visitors to explore Africa’s great apes in their natural setting.

Zambia - Giraffes

These destinations exemplify the beauty and diversity of the African continent, each with its unique allure, promising unforgettable safari experiences far from the beaten path. From the walking safaris of South Luangwa and the canoe adventures in Mana Pools to the vastness of Makgadikgadi, the elephant encounters in Amboseli, and the pristine waters of Lake Tanganyika, these hidden gems offer a deeper connection with nature’s marvels.

Embark on an unparalleled adventure to Kenya in September, where experiences await. This month offers a delightful combination of dry and sunny weather with fewer crowds, making it the ideal time to immerse yourself in the marvels of a safari or indulge in the serenity of a beach vacation. Although you can travel to Kenya any time of the year, we chose September because it is usually the time of the year when the Migration reaches the further north point, Maasai Mara National Park and then they start their way back to South Serengeti so September – October is the best time to visit Maasai mara and Kenya.

Captivating Safaris

Delve into the heart of Africa’s finest safari destinations, with Kenya boasting a plethora of renowned parks, including the prestigious Masai Mara National Reserve, Tsavo National Park, Amboseli National Park, and Lake Nakuru National Park. For an extraordinary safari experience, Kenya offers a selection of exceptional lodges and camps. Activities Beyond Imagination

In addition to captivating safaris and serene beach vacations, Kenya has a plethora of other activities that will enchant luxury travelers like you, such as:

Beaches in Kenya

Venture to Kenya’s pristine beaches, where luxury and tranquility blend harmoniously. Diani Beach, Lamu, and Chale Island are among the most sought-after destinations for relaxation and leisure. Bask in the embrace of clear blue waters, stroll along soft white sands, and bask in the glorious African sunshine.

Hot Air Ballooning

Hot air ballooning is a truly unique and unforgettable way to experience the Masai Mara National Reserve. As you soar above the savannah, you’ll have a bird’s-eye view of the vast herds of animals that roam the reserve, including lions, elephants, zebras, and giraffes. You may even spot the occasional cheetah or leopard.

Hot air ballooning is typically offered at sunrise when the light is most magical. As you float silently above the landscape, you’ll feel a sense of peace and tranquility that is hard to find anywhere else. So don’t complain about waking up REALLY early because it’s worth it.

Game Drives

Game drives are another popular activity for luxury travelers in Kenya. These 4×4 safaris take you into the heart of the African bush, where you can see all sorts of amazing wildlife up close. You’ll likely spot lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, and many other animals. During September and October, the Wildebeest migration is in the north of Serengeti and in the Maasai mara, so if you are really lucky you might witness a river crossing and that is Nature’s most amazing show to watch,

Game drives are typically conducted in the morning and afternoon when the animals are most active. Your guide will point out the different animals and tell you about their behavior. You may also be able to see some of the animal’s natural habitats, such as watering holes and grazing areas.

Bush Walks

If you’re looking for a more intimate experience with nature, you can go on a bush walk. These guided walks take you through the bush, where you’ll have the chance to see animals up close and learn about their natural environment.

Bush walks are a great way to get away from the crowds and experience the African bush in a more personal way. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about the plants and trees that grow in the bush, as well as the different types of animals that live there.

Luxurious Spa Treatments

After a long day of exploring, there’s nothing quite like a luxurious spa treatment to help you relax and rejuvenate. Kenya has some of the best spas in Africa, where you can enjoy a variety of treatments, such as massages, facials, and body wraps.

Many of Kenya’s spas use natural ingredients, such as essential oils and herbs, to create their treatments. This helps to ensure that you’ll experience a truly authentic and relaxing experience.

Private Dining

If you’re looking for a truly special dining experience, you can book a private dinner under the stars. These dinners are typically held in the bush, where you’ll be surrounded by the sounds of the African night.

You’ll enjoy a delicious meal that has been prepared with fresh, local ingredients. You may even be able to spot some animals while you’re dining.

Private dinners are a great way to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a romantic evening in the bush.

These are just a few of the many luxury activities that await travelers in Kenya. Whether you’re interested in wildlife safaris, spa treatments, or private dining, you’re sure to find something to enjoy in this beautiful country.

3. Luxurious South Africa adventure

When visiting South Africa, there are so many things one can do, we always recommend a minimum stay of 4 full days in Cape Town but 5 is better, Stay at a private villa, fully serviced with a private chauffeured vehicle to take you around the city and all the places it has to offer, but even though your villa will include a chef, don’t miss out on the amazing restaurants the city has to offer, take some time to relax while sipping champagne on a private yacht watching the sunset, or maybe a nice helicopter flight over the city, even better, a helicopter flight to the Winelands to spend 2 or 3 nights there, after that fly out to the Kruger Park area and spend 3 or 4 nights in a 5-star luxurious Safari lodge.

If you are a beach person we can also add some time at a beach in a coastal town near Cape Town or maybe even fly out to Mozambique after the safari and stay at a fabulous beach resort in one of those amazing islands, enjoy some time under the sun or go Scuba diving, etc.

City, country side, safari, and beach what else can you ask for?
